Our recommendation letter examples are designed to help you in your letter writing.
Applying for a job with good experience, trying to get into a prestigious program of an elite university, getting into a good teaching program, all of this requires necessary qualifications and credentials. They require you to have enough experience and adequate academic background.
That is how you will outdo your competition and come out on top. However, there is one very important thing to note here, while all of the factors I have mentioned above are important, compulsory even, they are missing one particular thing: having someone recommend you in to your current preferred professional domain.
Recommendation Letter examples
If you are an employer, or a teacher, or anyone with seniority, I’m going to assume that you had to write one or two recommendation letter examples in your life. While I’m sure you were very honored about being chosen by your employee to write them a letter, the process itself was something you were probably not very fond of. So to prevent that from happening in the future, I have a few words of advice for you. We also have for you here a set of letter of recommendation templates that you can use for yourself.
But before we go onto the process part, I would like to tell you a bit more about what recommendation letter samples are, and why they are so important for employers looking to hire.
What is a Letter of Recommendation?
According to Wikipedia, a letter of recommendation is basically defined as:
“Is a document in which the writer assesses the qualities, characteristics, and capabilities of the person being recommended in terms of that individual’s ability to perform a particular task or function.”
Like I said before, a person basically writes a letter of recommendation with the intention of convincing the reader that the concerned person is competent enough to take on the particular role they are to be given. That particular role could range from getting hired into another company, getting into a studying program that requires proof of your qualifications, or maybe even for a scholarship.
In other very simple words, you could call it a letter of validation, which will remove the possible doubts the employer may have about the applicant’s credentials. It will also give them a better idea of their performance and experience in the previous profession they were in. Which will ultimately help the applicants in getting accepted?

How do you write a Recommendation Letter?
Your recommendation letter should have the following components for it to be complete and appropriate:
- Introduction: This is a pretty obvious one, but before anything, you need to tell the reader about yourself, and what professional relation you have or had with the applicant.
- The applicant’s professional qualifications, and academic background. Maybe even add a bit of their personal achievements.
- List down their good traits and characteristics that drove them when they were working with you/ for you.
- Your contact information in case the reader needs to call you personally.
